Autism Society of Greater Wisconsin Welcomes Stacy Stefaniak Luther to Its Board of Directors

Stacy Stefaniak Luther, Licensed Mental Health Counselor and Co-Owner at Behavioral Health Clinic in Wausau, Wisconsin has joined the Autism Society of Greater Wisconsin as a member of the Board of Directors.

“We’re very excited to welcome Stacy to our board. She brings a wealth of experience, compassion, and knowledge to the Autism Society of Greater Wisconsin” said Kerry Hoops, president of the Autism Society of Greater Wisconsin.

Stefaniak Luther has a doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology and undergraduate degrees in education. She is passionate about helping people live their best lives. Stefaniak Luther currently works as a licensed mental health counselor and loves hearing people’s stories and being a part of their lives. She lives in Central Wisconsin with her husband, two kids, cats, and dog.

“To me, improving the lives of those affected by autism means supporting individual development and providing support to each individual Autistic and their family members. I see the stigma that still exists with the diagnosis and the misunderstandings the arise from lack of awareness and acceptance,” says Stefaniak Luther, “I am passionate about each individual living their best life and reaching their highest goals and achievements.”

The Autism Society of Greater Wisconsin’s mission is to create connections, empowering everyone in the Autism community with the resources needed to live fully. Founded in 1979, the Autism Society of Greater Wisconsin and its 5 local affiliates serve over two thousand members of the Autism community each year. It envisions a world where everyone in the Autism community is connected to the support they need, when they need it – including education, resources, and supports and services throughout the lifespan.

What's your favorite zoo animal?

My favorite zoo animal is the Ring-tailed lemur. I could watch them for hours!

What is your favorite thing about living in Wisconsin?

My favorite thing about living in Wisconsin are the 4 seasons and the mild winter… I know, “mild” doesn’t sound right, but I grew up in “Big Snow Country!”

Where would you like to travel to if given the chance?

I would love to travel to Italy someday. In 3rd grade we learned about Pompeii and I instantly knew I was going to go there someday to see it. My dream is to spend a month visiting all of Italy and taking trains from city to city.

What's the most inspiring part of your job?

The most inspiring part of my job is the people. People’s resiliency never ceases to amaze me and I feel so honored to get to hear their stories. There are some very strong people out there fighting battles we don’t know about. This is why it’s so important to be kind.
