The Autism Society of Greater Wisconsin is pleased to announce plans to offer Respite Care Nights at the Building for Kids Children’s Museum in Appleton, Wisconsin this year. A total of 4 nights throughout the year will be offered to families of children with Autism, in partnership with Wisconsin Early Autism Project.  Each program will include 3 hours of respite time on Friday nights, from 5:30 -8:30 pm. The new program is supported by the Respite Care Association of Wisconsin (RCAW) through a Group Respite Grant.

“We know that taking a break from weekly routines is so important for both children and caregivers,” says Kirsten Cooper, executive director of the Autism Society of Greater Wisconsin, “We’re grateful for the support of the Respite Care Association of Wisconsin to help us launch this new program in 2023.”

Children with Autism and their siblings ages 3 -12 will be welcome to join the Autism Society of Greater Wisconsin for a night of play and discovery at the Building for Kids Children’s Museum, while caregivers have the night to take care of themselves.  Experienced staff from Wisconsin Early Autism Project will play and guide small groups of children through the museum exhibits, ensuring a fun and engaging evening for all. Pizza and snacks will be provided.

Events are free but sign up required and capacity is limited.

Families can sign up for a maximum of two nights per year.
